As an Emergency Registered Nurse, you will play a key role in delivering safe, effective, and patient-centred emergency care within a regional Central Queensland hospital. The emergency department services a broad catchment area and manages a diverse mix of presentations, ranging from minor injuries to high-acuity medical and trauma cases.
You will be responsible for providing rapid assessment, triage, treatment, and ongoing management of patients presenting to the emergency department, while working closely with medical officers, senior nursing staff, and allied health professionals.
This role requires strong clinical judgement, excellent communication skills, and the ability to remain calm and effective in fast-paced and often unpredictable situations.
Perform comprehensive emergency assessments and initiate timely clinical interventions
Triage patients according to clinical urgency using recognised triage systems
Provide emergency care for medical, surgical, trauma and mental health presentations
Assist with and coordinate resuscitation events and emergency responses
Administer medications safely in accordance with policies and scope of practice
Monitor, escalate and manage deteriorating patients
Accurately document care using electronic medical records
Communicate effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams
Participate in handover, clinical decision-making and prioritisation of care
Maintain infection control, safety and quality standards at all times
Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
Minimum 3+ years post-registration experience as an RN
Demonstrated Emergency Department experience
ALS certification (current)
Proven experience in triage and resuscitation
Ability to work autonomously and within a multidisciplinary team
Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
Excellent communication and documentation skills
Previous regional, rural or remote experience highly regarded
Competitive agency pay rates up to $72.08 per hour + penalties + super
